Implementation Examples
Use discussion forums on which students can discuss questions within small lightweight teams, followed by a quiz using an interactive quizzing tool (e.g., Poll Everywhere) that can display results graphs based on answers from all students in class. This pattern is very helpful for an online class where interactive Poll Everywhere quizzes cannot be used in real-time.
This is conducted in three phases, namely a discussion phase, a survey answering phase and a results viewing phase. It is recommended that students be given 12-24 hours to complete each phase.
1- Discussion phase: Create a Canvas discussion forum in which students within small lightweight teams can discuss specific questions posed to them.
2- Survey answering phase: Put all these quiz questions into a Poll Everywhere survey and embed the survey into a Canvas page. Have students complete the survey.
3- Results viewing page: Create a page in which result graphs that show answers from the entire class are displayed to students.
